This week, a second stand of Muslim horse archers joins the Reconquista project. Figures are Black Tree Design and are based for Impetvs. In the first Reconquista game, I found horse archers to be very effective at harassing the enemy with the ability to evade contact. If one was good, two should be better, right?
They are good and yours look great!

Thanks, Christopher!
DeleteLovel work, love this beautiful blue, and your base too!
ReplyDeleteBest,
Phil.
Thanks, Phil! That medium blue really stands out especially against the white robe.
DeleteGreat looking skirmishers with very lively basing, Jonathan! They are very annoying in Impetus. Thus, you should field the maximum number you can. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Monty! I got the basing idea from a fellow blogger who based his bowmen almost running lengthwise on the base. It has the effect of showing the archers circling their prey, don't you think?
DeleteSee Jake's response below. I think it does annoy him!
I had the hardest time in Impetus when I didn't have light cav, or when I had less. I seem to remember a triple move across the table to hit me in the flank. Sigh indeed!
DeleteAnd the arms race is on, I see!
We have not tried full Impetvs so we have yet to experience multiple moves. A triple move into your flank? I must watch out for such behavior.
Delete"sigh" ...time to paint more Jinettes. These look great. Did you use a deeper base for them?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jake! Basing is the same as the other cavalry in this project. That is, 80mm deep. The Punic Wars cavalry are based on 60mm deep stands same as the foot.
DeleteQuite beautiful Jonathan.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Fran! I think they look a bit better than my photos illustrate.
DeleteGetting Light cavalry "right" is a major change for Medieval/Renaissance rules. I'll be intersted to see how you find them with the full rules and more experience.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
