Austrian Hussar Rgt #7

Two more squadrons of Austrian hussars trot off the painting desk for the 1799 project.  These troopers muster out as the 7th Hussar Regiment.  With a medium blue pelisse and breeches, green shako, red saddlecloth, and yellow trim, these lads are a colorful bunch.  Exactly what one expects from Austrian hussars!  Figures are AB Miniatures from the French Revolution range.  The small range of  FRW Austrians from AB are probably my favorites of all of the AB Napoleonics.  These hussar sculpts are exceptionally well crafted.
After having reignited the painting production line following a two-week holiday in Egypt, several units are making their way through the painting queue.  Expect to see a return to the 15mm 1859 project as well as a few battalions of SYW Bavarians in 18mm.  The Bavarians are sourced from Lancashire Games' SYW Austrians and they are a joy to paint.  Three such Bavarian battalions are in work.  One more Battle Report from the recent spate of Great Italian Wars' games is yet to be created before memories of the game fade completely from mind.

    1. Thanks, Keith! Yes, always plenty of painting work to help keep me out of trouble. Travel is a great diversion from the every day and is a great painting motivator.

  4. Lovely work as usual, Jonathan. I'm looking forward to the holiday pictures from Egypt; I've only been there once myself and was eighteen months old at the time, so I don't remember much.

    1. Much appreciated, Lawrence! I look forward to curating and posting Egypt photos too. For me, this is a long process. My wife has been asking the same about when I plan to get around to posting travel photos. Shes suggests I stop messing around with painting photos and get on with the travel photos!

  11. Lovely Hussars, Jon. IIRC, there were only two regiments with the grass green shakos, but they are favorites!

    1. Thanks, Peter! Yep. Only the 7th and 10th wore the green shakos. Since these figures represent only two squadrons of the 7th, I still have plenty of potentially green shakoed hussars to field.

  13. Those Hussars are rather good Jonathan. Been getting an itch that I'm trying to ignore for a little Napoleonics, perhaps Crimea of late... Needs to go away but those Red uniforms are dirty little temptresses.

    1. Thanks, Dai! The French infantry in their pantaloon rouge from the mid-nineteenth century are among my favorite as well. I have a regiment of three battalions of the Frenchmen coming off the painting desk soon.
