Austrian hussar uniforms have to be some of my favorites. Vibrant colors and the AB Miniatures' hussars are sculpted with such panache. Hard charging dandies, hell bent for leather. Super figures.
These half dozen figures comprise two squadrons of Hussar Regiment #2, Erzherzog Joseph. Uniforms for the troopers are molded in the earlier style and the animation makes for a dashing group. Exactly the image hussars should project in my mind anyway.
Another such set of Austrian hussars is in work to accompany the 2nd. Off the workbench soon will be the 7th Hussars. Before the 7th appears, one more stand of 28mm Gauls/Celts will likely beat the hussars to the photo booth.
Nice work Jonathan.....I am looking forward to painting some Hussars for my SYW project even in 10 mm they are colourful
ReplyDeleteThank you, Matt! Hussars are colorful and fun to paint. Your 10mm hussars will look fab.
DeleteZing! yellow against red, calmed down by pale blue, lovely and enough surely to always secure a +1 on the dice :-)
ReplyDeleteYes! The 2nd Hussars really pop off the table. Super looking combination of uniform colors.
DeleteThe units look very dashing.
ReplyDeleteI think so too!
DeleteMagnifique!
ReplyDeleteDanke!
DeleteBright uniform, handsome men.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Jonathan.
Thank you, Dmitry!
DeleteYes Austrian Hussars look great, excellent work!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mark! They cannot compare to your fine hussars works in 28mm. Yours are real beauts!
DeleteI too share the enthusiasm for the Austrian hussar uniforms, and this handsome unit!
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated, Peter! We recognize a good thing when we see it.
DeleteFabulous uniforms, and a great paint job. Puts me instantly in mind of the the film 'The Duelists'. Those Hussars! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, FoGH! I appreciate your comments and welcome!
DeleteSuperb brushwork doubles the "hussar" effect of the excellent AB figs. Battlefield results may vary, but for my money, the Austrians win the fashion campaign.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ed! Hard to exceed the glam and glitz of an Austrian hussar!
DeleteA fascinating work, love the superb colors!
ReplyDeleteMerci!
DeleteAgree on the Uniforms and the poses. Hussars are some of the liveliest bunch in the battlefield. (and critical for giving a splash of color to any Austrian army.)
ReplyDeleteYes! Hussars give great color to the White Menace.
DeleteA very lively bunch, both in terms of pose and uniforms. That touch of yellow really makes them stand out.
ReplyDeleteThey are a lively bunch! The sculpting lends a sense of hard-driving cavalrymen. The yellow makes the unit stand out, for sure.
DeleteNice work on these, the colours really pop.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated, Markus!
DeleteBeautiful work - inspirational! If I'd gone fighting dressed like that, my mother would have given me a big lecture about not getting dirty.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely super.
Thank you for your encouraging support, Tony! My mother would have given me the same lecture. She still might!
DeleteBeautiful looking figures Jonathan - as you say, Austrian cavalry are very colourful, and you have painted these ones up to full advantage!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Keith! Glad you approve!
DeleteVery cool looking figures! And extra points for using the word panache in the post. 😀
ReplyDeleteThanks for the extra points!
DeleteLovely work on these
ReplyDeleteThanks much!
DeleteHussars always do look rather dashing! Love the colours on these!
ReplyDeleteAlways dashing! The 2nd wears a most handsome uniform.
DeleteBeautiful work as always!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteGreat stuff Jonathan...Austrian Hussars, of any period, are the best aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mark! Austrian hussars are a spectacle in any horse and musket period.
