Tired of French Cavalry?

Not yet!  French cavalry for the SYW project continues to muster out from the painting desk.  Another two squadrons are fielded for the growing French horse contingent.  This time, the dozen troopers are from cavalry regiment Bourbon-Busset.  Figures are Eureka Miniatures.

Having recently fielded both Bourbon and Bourbon-Busset cavalry regiments, is it a coincidence that David from Not by Appointment has created flags for these two, very regiments?  I think there is no coincidence but only David can answer this puzzle.  Another excellent set of flags from David by the way.  When I am ready to print off another flagsheet, I will be sure to include these fine works.  
More French cavalry squadrons are working their way through the production queue.  My immediate goal is to reach seven BMUs for a planned WAS game.  By my count, Bourbon-Busset is #4 in this process.  More than halfway to the goal!  Perhaps I ought to announce which regiments are in work so that David can get to work?  Just kidding, David.

Some thoughts this week have returned to examining the data within The Great Wargaming Survey.  Having defined Primary Wargaming Interest as either "Historical","Mixed", or "Fantasy/SciFi" I wonder if my original splits along the Historical to Fantasy/Sci-Fi continuum actually are backed-up by the data.  To answer that question (and a few more), I examine Primary Interest by Favorite Wargaming Periods.  If anything interesting pops out from the analysis, I will offer up a report-out.  Even if the results are not interesting, I suspect a report will still be forthcoming.

      Chris, short-term goal is to field seven French cavalry BMUs so refighting WAS Bassignana is a possibility. Long-term? Is there an upper bound?

      It is very tempting, but I have around forty armies ahead of me in the pile and dare no add to them. I can see myself now started to make an actual impact on the pile and fear that adding any more at this stage would have a demotivating effect.

    How could we tire of such splendid stuff? They look great! It may be heresy but I prefer the look of the 7YW/WAS to Napoleonics. Clearly the influence of Charles Grant at an early age..

    Excellent cavalry, and I'll look forward to the report. I seem to recall a pretty strong correlation between age and primary interest in the past. Be curious to see if that holds.

      Thanks, Markus! Your recollection on the relationship between Primary Interest and Age is correct. This time, I approach Primary Interest from a different perspective by examining period choices across the interest spectrum.

      Thanks, Jennifer! I expect the game table will have Franco-Austrian armies out until end of June. July may see a return to either WAS or SYW battles. I will put out a call for remote players once a scenario is in place.
