Basic Impetvs (BI) does not require separate command stands since leaders are integrated into a unit. Not the case for me. For my version of BI on a grid, I field at least one command stand per army and often one command stand per wing. My Reconquista games generally do not use more than two command stands per army since many of these games are set for four players. I can field four command stands.
Well, the remote game on deck later today has five players. That meant I needed to hurriedly push some command figures into the painting queue to field five commands by Monday. As illustrated by these photos, two command stands made it out from the painting desk on Sunday just in time to field for Monday's game.Figures are a mix of Black Tree Design, Gripping Beast (thank you, eagle-eye Ray), and Artizan. One of these stands will take its place in the game today.
I spy a few Gripping Beast figures there Jon. The stands look great, looking forward to tonight's bash!
ReplyDeleteGripping Beast? Now where did those come from?
DeleteThey look REALLY good Jon. Funnily enough I was watching a Spanish film the other evening and some characters on it were watching El Cid.

Thank you! Your Spanish must be getting quite good.
DeleteThey look fantastic Jonathan. Especially the one reading the rule book.
ReplyDeleteAn example of the need to have a comprehensive collection of unpainted figures (aka. lead mountain) to use in emergencies.
Thanks! Having a ready surplus of figures can come in handy.
DeleteGreat looking command stands, Jonathan. My dice are being warmed up for tonight... not that it usually makes any difference!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Richard! Yes, get those dice warmed up!
DeleteVery nice Jon let’s hope the wet paint doesn’t hold them back ?
ReplyDeleteIf these figures run, it won’t be the paint.
DeleteVery neat. Do commanders suffer the new command stand version of new unit syndrome I wonder 🤔
ReplyDeleteThanks! I guess we find out today.
DeleteVery quick work but up to your normal high standards Jon!
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated, Keith!
DeleteBig fan of Advanced Impetus because of the command control and the diorama basing, I have separate commands for it also. Nothing beats the ability to do small dios on the table that have a use.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Matt
Matt, I always stick with Basic Impetvs with a few twists. Easy to adjudicate in large, remote games. I like the basing possibilities too!
DeleteVery nice Jonathan. BTW what does the banner with Arabic writing say? I hope it's not "shop at Ali's, great discounts" ☺
ReplyDeleteNeil
Thanks! At one time, I could read the script. I will have to go back and translate.
DeleteBeautiful work Jonathan!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteCommand stands look great Jonathan, nothing like a game to get you painting up additional figures
ReplyDeleteThanks! Necessity is the mother of (painting) motivation.
DeleteSplendid Command bases, do put them on the table----even if the rules don't require them. Funny how things add to the game visually and increase the overall impact for immersion. If we added olfactory clues, probably less enjoyment for let's say camel or horse units.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Joe! Camels do not smell so good, and this game has two units of them!
DeleteGreat looking pair of command stands, always good to have a game to push the painting along!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain!
