On The Table Today is...

Carl Rochling's Prussian Infantry at Mollwitz 1741
the Battle of Mollwitz.  Actually, Sunday's game with mark an anniversary battle commemorating the 281st anniversary of the 10 April 1741 battle.
Initial deployments
The battle will be fought in 18mm, remotely, using Honours of War (HoW) as the Rules on Engagement.  I face off against an opponent new to HoW.  This may be his first remote game too.  That detail will be confirmed before play begins.
The armies face-off
Prussian battle lines
Austrian battle lines
Until then, the battlefield lays silent awaiting the action to begin.

While Mollwitz was reportedly fought in the snow, my battlefield shows a springlike groundcover.  In earlier refights of Mollwitz, a white groundcover played havoc with photography.

A second Mollwitz replay is slated for Monday so I will be getting the pleasure of a Mollwitz double shot this week.

Lucky me!

    1. Lots of gaming, for sure. Some weeks, it seems like time for little else. Having Mollwitz before, I still await an Austrian victory.

  6. This is going to be good. Re: the snow problem, I wonder if there's some kind of less-reflective finish for cloth to take the edge off?

    1. I hope so! Using less reflective material is a good suggestion but what? Perhaps scatter white granules in select spots to offer up a suggestion of snow?

  7. The lace wars were made for miniatures gaming; the uniforms, the regular formations and evolutions, it just doesn't get any better--unless, of course, you do it twice!

  8. I'll be intrigued to see what you think of HOW. Initially I really enjoyed them, but as I played more games I discovered more issues than I wanted.Best of luck.

    1. Robbie, I am interested in seeing what you found lacking or causing issues. Artillery effectiveness was a problem for me early-on, but a strict interpretation of Target Priority mitigated that issue. Well, for me, anyway.

  13. Looks great. Having done quite a few Battles in the Snow, they look great on the tabletop in person, but photography is really and issue, I like the patches of snow idea as a something to try. Maybe off white with patches of brown might work better, too on the photo ened.

  19. It’s a good looking set up and seems to be something of a straightforward battle, though that doesn’t mean uninteresting.
I do like when armies anchored on a river. 😀
Enjoy your double shot! Which probably meant something much different in our youth.

What does Matt use for snow? His tables come out nice in pics.

    1. Thanks! Straightforward battle in the sense that each army has a battle plan that is completely different from the opponent's plan. It is a challenging situation to each although I have seen the Austrians win only one battle.

I do not recall what Matt used for snow but he had photo challenges too.
