I will be heading out today once the temperature creeps up a few more degrees. Still, it is great to feel the warm sun on my back even if a bit cooler than I like and actually going somewhere not in my garage. Of course, I must get today's miles in early so that I return for game time later this morning. Stalingrad is on the slate, I think, using a ruleset not played. Should be interesting.
With warming temperatures (it is actually forecast to be hot today), snow is melting off the mountains and the river is rising. Although, it is early, already water over the falls increases.
Well, two more regiments of Spanish infantry muster out from the painting desk. This time we see regiments Toledo and Africa. Each regiment contains 23 figures with Old Glory foot led by a Eureka mounted colonel. Flags are by David from Not by Appointment.
Many more SYW/WAS units are in work as I plug away at Hanoverians, Piedmontese, and a unit of Grenadiers de France.
For now, time to hit the road!
Lovely terrain photos I look forward to the Spanish infantry!

Whoops! Now the Spanish infantry appear!
DeleteVery nice!

Looks lush out there, definitely bike terrain.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely bike country for me.
DeleteImpressive in both painting output and fitness!
ReplyDeleteNeil
Thank you, Neil!
DeleteBoth look just lovely Jonathan!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thanks, Christopher!
DeleteVery beautiful! Both landscape and units... However, a big project is planned.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated, Valentine! Big Projects ae always in play.
DeleteReally like the full scale scenery and the fine additions to the WAS/SYW collection. Stalingrad now that is right up my strasse.
ReplyDeleteGetting out from the game room to observe nature in her natural state is a useful exercise (literally!).
DeleteStalingrad, we fight at a much higher-level than you are accustomed to seeing.
Impressive scenery and figures Jon. Good to see your weather is finally improving! Will be interested to read about your adventures on the Volga!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I can only take credit for the figures. Yes, weather finally getting better. High today will be almost 30C in your metric.
DeleteMore fine additions to the Spanish ranks
ReplyDeleteThanks! I have enough Spanish infantry to fill at least one wing.
DeleteMore lovely Spanish, they always look beautiful. Nice to see you out and about again, with some lovely clear skies.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Yes, it is certainly a welcome relief to be back outside on the bike.
DeleteSo pretty up there. We were warm for a week, but now back into the low 70's, high 60's and even some unseasonable rain!?
ReplyDeleteHow many Spanish units does that make now? Have to have at least a good army's worth?
I believe Spokane set a record this year for the number of days before 70F was registered. It is about time it begins to warm up.
DeleteThere are eight Spanish foot regiments so far. Artillery next, I think.
I am glad to hear that spring has sprung with you Jonathan as we head off on Saturday to an area a little north of you.
ReplyDeleteFinally! Enjoy your Canadian Adventure.
DeleteI do enjoy seeing the scenery and the splendid Spanish too.
ReplyDeleteAlan Tradgardland
Thanks, Alan! With weather improving, expect to see occasional photos from my cycling around the Palouse.
DeleteThe weather has been nice recently. Great looking Spanish regiment.
ReplyDeleteDespite the frequent nightly thunderstorms, weather on the East Side has been terrific. Congratulations on your retirement! More time for hobbies.
DeleteBeautiful photos of units and landscapes.
ReplyDeleteBest regards
Thanks, Michal!
DeleteGood looking infantry Jon and glad the weather has improved…..when is the next snow due ?
ReplyDeleteThanks! We hit a record high yesterday so maybe snow is finished for this cycle.
Delete2 more units for HoW. Do you know today how many infantry do you plan for the Spanish? I'm really much impressed about your work in progress.
ReplyDeleteEnough Spanish infantry for now. I do need to field a few artillery and cavalry units though.
DeleteThat sounds excellent. Spanish artillery very much looked the same like French artillery. Spanish cavalry are similar but you can chose special units like those yellow uniformed dragoons...
DeleteI am using French artillery for Spanish but have yet to look closely at Spanish cavalry.
DeleteLovely units Jonathan. Good to know that you are getting some road miles.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Very good to be back out cycling. I have some winter weight to shed…
DeleteYou are so lucky to live in such a wonderful place Jon! The scenery never ceases to amaze. Just like your output!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the local sights! I think being on Malta might be quite wonderful too.
Deletefor a second there I was thinking that you were taking your new Spanish Infantry out for a Bike ride. I duuno why, brain fog. Nice pics of the outside if one likes that sort of thing. 😀😀
ReplyDeleteSpanish troops as well.
Stew, the question is always which photo to lead. I chose the scenery this time.
DeleteI think you really do enjoy being outdoors but you underplay your commitment to getting outside.
Glad you like the Spanish.
Maybe I do enjoy the outdoors and maybe now it’s just a running gag that keep up for other’s entertainment and my amusement.
DeleteMaaaaayybee.
Running gags are good. You may see a return to your favorite period, ACW, in a few weeks' time. Pondering which battle to recreate.
DeleteGreat to see the weather has improved enough for you to get out on the bike Jon. Here Spring has been very stop start and unusually cool here in Bristol, with a seemingly never ending Northerly or Easterly breeze. Bike action has been sparse as a result, plus any decent weather I've been playing catch up on the garden.
ReplyDeleteLovely Spanish units once again and am tempted to paint a small Brigade for my ImaginNations just for something different.
Yes, very good to return to cycling outside. We switched from a cool Spring to almost instant summer this week. We set record highs two days this week with a third likely today. Hope you get back out soon although I understand the requirements of maintaining a garden.
DeleteYou ought to succumb to the temptation and muster out some Spanish.
An early spring bike ride ending in Stalingrad...who else other than a wargamer could say such a thing--and for it to be a positive destination?
ReplyDeleteThis may seem like a strange combination but for me it works!
DeleteGood to see your getting out and about Jonathan…
ReplyDeleteThings are starting to brighten up a bit here as well…
Nice new toys as well
All the best. Aly
Good to see skies are brightening up for you! Yeah, we always seem to have plenty of new toys, don't we?
