BTD Reconquista Heavy Foot

While a number of cavalry units for the 28mm Reconquista project has cantered off the painting desk in the last several months, not many foot have mustered up for service.  Given that recent lopsided attention, one twelve figure stand of heavy infantry are readied for duty.
These figures are BTD from their excellent Warriors of Islam range.  A variety of foot were gathered for this unit wearing a mix of armor and weapons.  While I am not pleased with my work on the shield designs, at arms length on the table, only the swatches of color will stand out.  I am tempted to redo the shields but for now, they will stand as they are.  These are definitely warriors funded at their own expense with few concerns for quality control.  This stand will see action either as Spanish  Christians or mercenaries fighting for Islam.

  3. Lovely work - inspirational. I think the shields are terrific btw - if you think you can improve on them then go ahead, but they look just right to me.

    1. Thanks, Iain! I will leave the shields as they are. Gives them a bit of 'homespun' appearance.

  13. A fine, if indeed somewhat motley, looking crew. I too concur with the shields. Leave 'em as is!

  14. Nothing wrong with the shields Jonathan, not every soldier had an ornately decorated shield.
