As 2016 winds down, I remain in a mode to complete a few more units for the 1799 project before the clock runs out. Expect one more battalion of Grenz and two battalions of French legere before year-end. Several units from other projects are undergoing the brush too. It is a busy time...

AB 2nd Ottocac Grenz Battalion 1799
The second of three Grenz battalions needed for Montebello 1800 marches off from the painting desk. This time, 2nd Ottocac Grenz Regiment, Battalion #1 reports for duty.
The Grenz battalion consists of a baker's dozen of AB Miniatures' from the very fine Austrian Revolution range of 18mm Napoleonics. Exquisite sculpting on these little fellows. With a stain, the facial details are accented very nicely.

Amazing productivity. How do you do your white tunics to get them the right shade without them looking dirty or over-inked?
ReplyDeleteHi Norm, while use a slightly less pre white on the tunics, Minwax stain does most of the work.
DeleteAnother great addition, your cadence is really impressive!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteNext great looking unit!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteAnother great looking unit Jonathan!

Your comments always appreciated, Christopher!
DeleteLovely figures as always Jonathon. Like the mounted officer. I didn't realize that the Grenzers were in white for this campaign. When do we see these guys in action?

DeleteThank you, Peter! Yes, white was predominant. Work on the 1859 Montebello scenario is in work now so the 1800 Montebello scenario will be under consideration soon.
Pretty in Purple!
ReplyDeleteHoly paintfest, Batman! Three more finished units in the next 30 hours?!
I like the violet facings too! The units made the year-end cut off, now getting them into the photo queue is next.
DeleteGreat looking unit, I don't know how on earth your going to paint 3 units before the new year but if anyone can you can!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain! The finished units are standing in queue for a photo session.
DeleteTop looking troops, Jonathan. Love the purple!
ReplyDeletePurple and white is a good combination!
DeleteMore very determined looking kaiserlichs. I like that you put mounted officers in the centre of your units, it's a good look.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michael!
