When I first saw Christopher's fine work, I was immediately struck by the effect of the russet lacquered armor and brownish theme. I loved it! Since my Samurai project fields Ashigaru foot stands in a brigade consisting of one Teppo, one bow, and two spear, a brigade in russet lacquer would make a handsome addition.
With the first unit in the Russet Brigade mustered out, I stick to the Samurai project but switch from painting another of the Russet Brigade to a unit of Ikko Ikki. Those peasant farmers should be ready before Christmas arrives.Christopher, thank you for your inspiring brushwork and eye for color!
Nice bowmen Jonathan!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI really like the russet look. I am envious of all the Peter Pig sculpts, the integrated Sashimono look great en masse
ReplyDeleteThe russet with the satin, lacquer-like finish has good effect. As you know, I am quite fond of the PP Samurai range.
DeleteThose are brilliant. I hadn't thought about russet coloured armour, but I might use brown as the uniform colour for some of my Ashigaru.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like them, Nate! Until seeing Christopher's fine work, reddish brown armor had not entered into my thoughts either. Christopher has started a trend!
DeleteBeautiful colorscheme Jon! Nice to see you return to your samurai collection. Merry Christmas and happy painting in 2016!
ReplyDeleteSoren! It is a handsome color scheme! Many thanks to Christopher's good eye.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you, Soren! With 2015 seeming to be heavy on 28mm painting, I am leaning towards a 15mm effort in the new year. We will see.
These bowmen are very impressive, the overall impression is amazing!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phil! I like them too!
DeleteThose look great Jonathan! I'm very pleased you found my Ashigaru useful for ideas.:-) Thank you for the link!
ReplyDeleteChristopher
Thank you, Christopher! Your brown themed Ashigaru are brilliant. I simply followed your lead and inspiration.
DeleteThose are indeed fine additions to your already impressive samurai collection, Jonathan. Love the russet armor too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dean!
DeleteGreat looking troops, and a deft shift of era, scale, and locale!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peter! I am contemplating having 2016 be the year of 15mm efforts. Maybe 2015 should have been the year of the 15? With scale creep, perhaps, 2016 could be the year of the 16mm?
