A baker's dozen hoplites pass across the painting desk. The rank and file are Crusader Miniatures while the officer is (I believe) Aventine. The officer's lineage is unknown since he was one of the figures included in a lead swap with Scott. This stand of heavy infantry can join a similar stand of hoplites (see here) to form a large FP unit in Impetvs if desired. The hoplites in the link above have been rebased to comply with Impetvs. More heavy foot for the Carthaginians.
They really do look nice! Looking at these I'm chomping at the bit to get back into my Pyrrhic army for Impetus, but I first need to finish my Dux B. Saxons. The things we wargamers go through.:-)

Thanks, Christopher! Agreed! Always too many projects to tempt us.
DeleteLovely painting and basing! You've nailed it, with them being shield to shield. It's the perfect look for them.
ReplyDeleteIn Impetus, a large unit is really tough to break.
Thanks, Monty! These Crusader hoplites look like a tough bunch. When I command them, they better fight that way!
DeleteSuperb!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThey look great. Those *are shield transfers... right?!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Peter! Yes, transfers, they are.
DeleteI like the basing and how you have lost the figures bases into the groundwork.
ReplyDeleteThe painting is real nice too
Ian
Thank you, Ian!
DeleteExcellent! Love the paintjob and the shields!
ReplyDeletePhil! Thank you!
DeleteThanks, Andrew!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking ranks of hoplites, Jonathan - you've been busy! Best, Dean
ReplyDeleteYes, I have been busy! Thanks for the comment!
DeleteThat's some fine painting there Jonathan, you just gotts love them shields as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ray! Yes, the shield transfers spruce up the unit quite nicely.
DeleteThe officer is either Aventine or Renegade.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking unit, especially the shields.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sean.
DeleteVery impressive shield designs. My shields are always very much simplistic.
ReplyDeleteThanks, André’, but the shield designs are pre-made transfers. No painting by me.
