With a steady diet of battle reports of late, time to slip in a short painting update to break up some of the detailed battle accounts. There remains one more Adobe Wells game to chronicle but I am still sorting photos and putting the pieces of frantic action into place. As a teaser, consider what the narrative is behind the scene below:
Back to today's figures...Mustering out today are 24 matchlock men from Wargames Foundry's Sikh Wars range. These warriors will be absorbed into the Native contingents for my 25mm Great Game project that continues to simmer away very slowly on one of the back burners.
Very nice work on them Jonathan. Think you've nailed the white.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Richard!
DeleteThe Foundry figures look super Jon, they have painted up really well and make for a great looking unit.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donnie!
DeleteI always enjoy painting Foundry figures and these look great Jonathan. A lovely mix of colours in there to break up the white.
ReplyDeleteThe last Adobe Wells fight looks interesting. Did the character with the rifle take out three opponents, I wonder?
Much appreciated, Lawrence! The Last Stand at Adobe Wells was interesting, indeed!
DeleteWell, the Adobe Wells snapshot looks great, if rather bloody, and plenty of narratives to consider:). As for the matchlock men, they look lovely and a nice mix of simple colours for the turbans to break up the white, which works really well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Steve! As for painting and color choice, I am a simple man.
DeleteThe teaser photo is intriguing but I will wait for the report as to what happened. The Foundry figures are very nice.....how far back in the burners are they going?
ReplyDeleteThese figures go far back on the back burner! I probably have sufficient forces to field a Native and Russian army. The original plan was to pit British v Russians with some Natives mixed in on both sides. One day, we may even make to that point.
DeleteA terrifically turned out group of tribesmen. This and the Indian Mutiny range are definitely some of the Perry's best work for Foundry.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Phil! I agree with you on the Foundry sculpting for these ranges.
DeleteA determined bunch Jonathan.
ReplyDeleteWhen fighting for me, I hope they are determined!
DeleteLooks like a useful addition to your armies.
ReplyDeleteBack of Beyond does have it's own siren call.
Stephen
A useful addition to the project, indeed.
DeleteThose Sikhs look blooming awesome. Great work on the turbans. I can see Mark reaching for his credit card.
ReplyDeleteChris
It’s already maxed out!
DeleteChris, you are too kind! Mark announced that he had all of the figures needed for his project. Besides, as you can see below, his CC is maxed out!
DeleteVery nice work on the Foundry figures Jon....BoB is all great fun...look forward to seeing you getting a game in one day!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Keith! A game? Not sure when that may occur.
DeleteLooking great Jonathan!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michal!
DeleteLovely stuff. Can’t go wrong with a unit of Sikhs. 25 or 28mm ?
ReplyDeleteThanks! While I have yet measure them, I label them as '25mm' since they are an older Foundry range. I could pull out the ruler if you are tempted or curious.
DeleteThose Sikhs look great, I like the 'non-unform, but consistent' look of them. Adobe Wells game was great fun, thanks so much, and I suspect my figure is one of those lying dead in your picture! Very much looking forward to your report of the game.
ReplyDeleteThanks, David! Yes, your Simon is dead, laying behind the crate with Rattlesnake looking on.
Deletethose matchlock men look really nice. I like the occasional yellow turban. 😁
ReplyDeleteThanks! Need to add a splash of color occasionally.
DeleteSome fab looking figures Jon, they look a nice quick paint?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ray! Yes, they paint up relatively quickly. One reason to dig them out and push them into the painting queue.
DeleteI very like the irregular look of the matchlock men. Looking forward to more on your Great Game Project!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like 'em! One of these days, I ought to convince my buddy who holds the British Army to bring them around for a game.
