Work continues on expanding the Franco-Austrian War project into the Franco-Prussian War and even the Austro-Prussian War. Since the beginning of September, almost all painting work has been focused on mustering out FPW units. That trend continues today with Bavarian guns rolling out of depot.
Today's offering features four Bavarian guns and crew. Artillerymen are from Lancashire Games while the guns are from Freikorps 15's. As an aside, I read today that QRF figures seem to be once more back into production. Their return is a positive result since I use their limbers and guns for this project almost exclusively. Still more FPW units to emerge from the painting queue before I turn attention to something else. This diversion may be a brief one but who knows? After my recent, long delayed, hostage situation with Irish Customs from my August Lancashire Games' order, I was delighted to see a box of lead drop onto my doorstep in record time from Newline Designs. Goods are flowing again!
You're steaming through your conversion to the Franco Prussian from the Franco Austrian, they look great! Always nice to get a box through the post, I've been assembling plastic Bavarians in my car this morning, just to stay on theme!

DeleteI have to beat the rush, I'm driving half way across London, so I end up with half an hour to kill, I can have kip but I can also spend say 15 to 20 minutes a day assembling figures, all my Austrian infantry and all the more recent Perry French line regiments have been done this way, I've almost finished all the Bavarian infantry for two brigades, cavalry and artillery I find a bit more difficult!

They are looking good, I always have a soft spot for Bavarians. Very useful troops as they fought everyone.
ReplyDeleteI'm increasingly unable to keep track of which bits of QRF are back in production and which aren't. I've largely given up on their WW2 stuff until the situation stabilises. I have managed to get one last order into Langton just before they shut down for good at the end nd of the month. Shame about all the manufacturers closing down, but there is an inevitable attrition I guess.
Thank you, Martin! I am not sure which codes are in stock or not. I have not looked at the 19th Century guns and limbers codes to see if they are back in production. I suppose that the next time they are, I better stock up! It is a shame to lose these manufacturers. Renegade is the range I truly miss.

COVID was bad enough for supply chains, but the latest disruptions appear unnecessary which makes them all the more difficult to take. The cost of postage also seems all over the place from certain suppliers, whereas others seem to navigate the waters with greater ease.

ReplyDeleteI can see that the box is not as big as it appears in the photo, but for GBP28 you would want it to come quickly!
I am pleasantly surprised that the introduction of tariffs and accompanying paper work has gone so smoothly over there. It would have been a large IT systems change and to get various post offices all to work together and get it sorted out so quickly is very surprising! Maybe due to the impact and deadline management had to keep out of the way and just let the project team do their work unhindered. 😂😂
