Back to Spain!
In anticipation of a return to the Reconquista and Spain, I pulled the 28mm collection from its boxes and laid out a parade.Today's trooping features the Muslim armies gathering for battle. Not all will take to the field but a goodly number of them will. The collection has figures from a number of manufacturers including Black Tree Design, Artizan, Perry, Gripping Beast, and maybe one or two more. The bulk of the figures are definitely BTD picked up ages ago.
The army will go from the parade ground straight into battle in a contest later today on the field of Huesca.Today's battle sees me matching wits against an opponent fresh off a victory on the plains of Sumeria. With a string of four defeats at the hands of four different players, which wily opponent will I face on the field?
A very impressive collection, Jon. I may be mistaken, but thr Moors look a bit outnumbered in the forthcoming clash??
ReplyDeleteThank you, Keith! The two armies are about the same size. The main difference is that the Moors form their heavy infantry up into large units with supporting archers.

ReplyDeletePulling all of the figures out of boxes for a parade can be surprising. Many of the light cavalry are Perry figures.
DeleteImpressive! The unpainted lead pile has more than a few Gripping Beast figures. On my "to do" list ever since seeing El Cid as a child......

Many of us get inspired by a good movie. The Gripping Beast metal figures are very nice.

ReplyDeleteHi Steve, these armies were out for a few games late last fall. If you look back at Ucles, you will see some of these armies in action.

DeleteSetting up the parade must have brought a moment of absolute delight. I also like the building in the background.
ReplyDeleteNorm, isn't it a fun exercise to pull the figures to line them all up on the table? I reckon this exercise brings joy to us all. The walled town is fab! It was a end of year purchase that took more than two months to arrive. Well worth the wait.

DeleteA Moorish/Saracen army is a project I've always wanted to tackle to face my unloved and unfinished Vikings. But I think I'll live vicariously through yours instead! LOL

DeleteGreat looking army Jonathan. I think there is often great value in mixing figures from different manufacturers on a base (for all but horse and musket in their nice ordered lines).
