On the gaming table today is the AWI Battle of Brandywine. The focus of today's action is Knyphausen's attack on the American positions along Brandywine Creek.
Maxwell's Light Infantry cover the approaches to the creek. |
Greene's Division defends Chadd's Ford |
Sullivan's Division defends Brinton's Ford |
Can the Rebels block Knyphausen's Division from crossing Brandywine Creek in strength?
Will Kynphausen brush aside the Rebel rabble and move to entrap the Americans between himself and Howe?
Will anyone show up?
When the smoke clears, we will have an answer.
Looking forward to the AAR
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the players fight over the ground and then the AAR.
DeleteThis looks like an interesting scenario for all involved and am certainly looking forward to the AAR. Do the higher hexes block line of sight, impede movement etc?
ReplyDeleteSteve, my goal is to provide all players with challenges. Hopefully, not too challenging for some.
DeleteWhile the higher hexes block line of sight, movement is not affected. Attacking uphill is a penalty, though.
Ooh, another great set of reads coming.
ReplyDeleteI hope so!
DeleteWoooa! Another great looking game!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLooking good 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks! There may be repeat performances...
DeleteLooking forward to your replay! I've done it twice..and Knyphausen never seems to get too far in my games!
ReplyDeleteThank you, John. Let's hope Knyphausen makes more progress in this game. Forcing the fords may be tough. Not too tough, though.
DeleteNice to see this smaller section of the full battle played …. Very do-able for more gamers.
ReplyDeleteVery doable for many.
DeleteThis will be great Jon - I think Brandywine is my favouite AWI battle - I wrote a scenario for it years ago that we played, with all sorts of confusing intelligence coming in to the American commanders, giving them conflicting reports about where the British were and in what strength - great fun! I think in our game, Knyphausen was just fighting a holding action to keep the Americans watching the wrong part of the battlefield....
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement, Keith!
DeleteFor confusing intel, I leave that confusion in the players' hands. If I was recreating the full battle, the game would likely be following your lead. In today's battle, Knyphausen wants to force the creek.
Maybe another one for Honours of War, nice set up.
ReplyDeleteWhy not? Glad you approve.
DeleteAre there concerns the milita won't assemble? ;)
ReplyDeleteNot many militia here today. The defenders are ready and waiting.
DeleteLooks good!
ReplyDeleteThanks! As mentioned in a reply above, there may be a chance at a repeat performance if interested.
DeleteMore gridded goodness on the way: Excellent.
ReplyDeleteYes. I am hoping for a good contest.
DeleteLooks a tough nut to crack. Are they all Continentals?
ReplyDeleteNot too tough, I hope! Mostly Continentals but not all.
DeleteLooking forward to reading about the dirty reb’s suffering a good schnockering! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, you will not be disappointed!
DeleteAw… you went and ruined the ending! Lol
DeleteI hope not! Plenty of interesting action in between the beginning and the end.
DeleteA great-looking table as usual Jonathan and it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lawrence! I appreciate your encouragement. Yes, it was an interesting one.
DeleteNice set up. 😀
ReplyDeleteGood luck hosting and running the game.
Thank you! The game is in the books. Now, to piece the battle together to make sense of it all.
DeleteAnother goodie incoming I feel.
ReplyDeleteI hope so!
DeleteThat's looking very promising.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Please see the next post.
