Genova Heavy Horse in 1859

Off the painting desk today are four squadrons of the Genova Heavy Horse Regiment.  This dozen Sardinian lancers are from Mirliton miniatures from Italy.  I continue to believe these are some of the best cavalry in 15mm for the 1859 period.  Great figures.
With the current emphasis on churning out 15mm/18mm figures for at least part of 2018, expect more work on this project.  Looking into The Lead Pile, enough Sardinian cavalry can be found to field all of the horse regiments seen in 1859.  Well, if not, close!

Oh, these look superb, Jonathan! They bring back fond memories of images in a book I've had since childhood "Color Treasury of Model Soldiers". Love the mid-to-late 19th C. ones, particularly the helmeted cavalry types.

Dean, your comments are much appreciated!

I enjoyed seeing your old uniform books and your trip down memory lane.

Moms should indulge their child's interests just as yours did. You are fortunate.

Great looking figures. The Italian states cavalry are some of my favourites, far more elegant than the Prussian uniforms.

Splendid. Love the Sardinian cav. If I had spied these done this nicely two years ago, I might very well have chosen 15mm for my 19th century continental wars project!

Thank you, Matt! This is one of my favorite periods with good looking yet practical cavalry uniforms.

Thanks! Ed, had that been the situation, we all would have been cheated from seeing your beautiful brushwork on your commissioned figures.

Thanks, Matt! Frequent, small paint sessions are the key to getting figures off the workbench.
