As noted in the most recent State of the Painting Desk post, on the painting desk was the 114th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Regiment or Collis' Zouaves. These 24 Sash & Saber figures mark my entry into 28mm ACW.
The 114th Penn. saw action at Cedar Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and Petersburg. What a battle history!
What color!
If more Zouave regiments saw action in the ACW perhaps, I would consider ACW projects in more than one scale? Nah, 10mm ACW is enough (for now).
Many more Sash & Saber figures remain in The Lead Pile. I ought to consider pulling a Federal regiment outfitted in the Regular Army uniform to see how quickly they paint.
Great looking unit, zouaves are my favourite type of unit in the acw, they make everyone else look a little drab ,still be nice to see some more acw unit's though cheers Iain

DeleteWith a small pile if ACW figures, you will likely see a 28mm ACW regiment from time to time. Still have work to accomplish on my 10mm ACW project too.
Wonderful unit Jon, nice animation within the S&S range. Looking forward to seeing the regular unit as well, my greatest challange is getting the right sky blue color on their pants, think Ive experimented with 2-3 different Foundry color codes! Whats your preferred color for this application???

DeleteS&S are well animated, for sure and look good arrayed in battle line! For Federal trousers, I have used several Ceramcoat colors for my 10mm Federals. Will these same colors work for 28mm? I guess we will see. You can be the judge once I tackle a Regular Army Fed.

well, I do have 12 Union units (no flocking of bases yet, 20 figure regiments) which are available to be used during your ACW table top brawling game against Scott's Confederates! :o)
