Egyptian Archers

A second stand of Egyptian archers musters out from the painting desk.  Like the Egyptian archers before, figures are from BTD's excellent Egyptian range.
Since the Impetvs Assyrian Army list allows two Egyptian archer stands as an option in an Assyrian army, this may be all I need to augment my Assyrian army.  Of course, they may see action in an Egyptian force opposing the might of Assyria.
Wearing only a kilt and light equipment, the Egyptian archers can be fielded quickly.  I varied skin tones a bit but kept tones to the darker shades likely present in an Egyptian Kushite army.

  2. Nice differences in skin tone to mix up the look and break up the uniformity of the unit.

    1. I agree that varying the skin tones adds some interest to an otherwise minimal garb.

  3. Nice I have a half unit of these (Foundry) but every time I go to a show foundry never have any in stock I will get some soon 😀

    1. I have not painted (nor have) any of the Foundry Egyptians. In the catalog, they look quite good.

  4. Nice unit, would have done the same for the skin tones.

  8. Great looking unit Jonathan. I like the varied skintones and must try it when I get around to the Ottomans for my own projects.

    1. Thank you, Mark. I look forward to seeing your Ottomans. At the rate you paint, likely on parade next week, right?

    2. Not next week. I have to travel for work and I don't think the TSA will take too kindly to me taking my paints on the plane. Actually the Ottomans will probably not appear until next year...still deciding whether I will use the Brigade Games figures or wait for the Perrys to turn their's out.

    3. Why not use both Perry and Brigade Games' Ottomans? Hicks' Ottoman's are terrific.

  13. Not only is it a good looking paint job, but I think you are now painting Egyptians at a faster rate than I am. (I am assuming that was what Peter was alluding to?)

    1. Well, my supply of Egyptians was quite small. Just enough to get a taste of painting them and field a couple of units. The archers paint quickly and your comment about Egyptian archers vs Landsknechts is well taken and understood.
