More Assyrian (Chaldean) Archers

After a brief, very brief, diversion into the Reconquista project, paintwork returns to the theme of the summer; Assyrians.
In a seemingly army of archers, one more stand of archers moves out from the painting desk.  At current count, six, nine-figure Impetvs 'T' stands of such missile troops can be called upon for service.
As all Assyrian archers coming before, these figures are Wargames Foundry.  With their simple tunics, these Chaldean bowmen provide a fine example of auxiliary troops.  Still, a number of Assyrian units are marching through the painting queue including the upgrading of four of the four-horse chariots with runners and new bases.

    1. This Assyrian Army is coming together quite well. Quickly too! The nine figure missile stand looks good to me too.

  4. These Archers look great, Jon. It sometimes seems that almost every Assyrian carried a bow, doesn't it? Even Ashur, chief god of Assyria, is usually depicted as an archer!

    1. Thank you, Peter! It does seem everyone in ancient Assyrian carried and knew how to use a bow. Perhaps it was a status symbol?

  5. Nice looking unit Jonathan. From the direction of the gaze of a number of these figures, though, something very worrying is happening to thier right!

    1. Enough Assyrians are in the finished pile to field as a good sized army. A game is a winter goal.

  9. Your steady production of quality units is quite impressive--the latest batch of biblicals in particular given that they could easily have turned out much more nondescript in appearance given their plain kit.

    1. Ed, you are very kind! "Steady production" is how armies are built. Simple tunics help productivity too.

  10. Nice looking group. The single color for the headbands looks good and helps to identify them. I need to ramp it up. You are outstripping me in infantry and missiles at this point.

    1. Glad you glad them! Seems armies of this period were heavy on archers. From the work you have been pushing off your workbench, I think we are near parity. I have an edge in cavalry and chariots but your have a lot of foot units.
