BTD Celtic Charioteers

Besides a few units of Libyan javelinmen, the 28mm Punic Wars project has not seen much activity at the painting desk in 2015 and even less activity at the gaming table.  To help ease the pain of that neglect, off the painting desk are two Black Tree Design Celtic heavy chariots.
Although based individually, together the two chariots will form one Impetvs sized base of 120mm x 80mm.  That is the same footprint as a cavalry base.

It will be interesting to see how chariots affect the ancient battlefield under Impetvs.

  5. Great looking chariots and crew, Jonathan. I had the old Airfix Britons set with chariots, and always liked their look.

    1. I had many of the old Airfix but no ancients. My collections of those were Napleoinics, ACW, and a few WWII.

  6. Fine looking chariots, and I am also curious to see how Impetus handles them.

The charioteers seem fans of "letting it all hang out", as it were! :-)

    1. Thank you, Peter!

"Letting it all hang out" is correct. Not sure I care much for naked Barbarians but "when in Rome (or Gaul)..."

  7. I like your basing style, clean with flutters of character with those tufts etc. also, good work with those Spanish Reconquest figures!

    1. David! Thanks for stopping by for a visit!
My basing is certainly towards the minimalist end of the spectrum so glad you enjoy it.

  8. Well done sir. Chariots are always very exciting. Naked charioteers are .... well, errr, umm.
I don't see much for those chaps to hang on to if things start to get fast and bumpy.

    1. Thank you, Michael! Quite right about not much on which to hang-on. I bet bumps dislodged many a would-be warrior.

  9. The chariots are terrifically painted, but the Celts seem to be unconcerned with personal protective equipment. I would definitely desire trousers riding on a chariot.

    1. Thanks, BF! I would want some protection too. There are things a guy should not have banging around.

  10. Love 'em Jonathan! They're such a colorful sight but you'd have to be crazy to ride into battle like that.
