To oppose the Prussian jaegers fielded last week, off the painting desk today are fifteen colorful, Austrian Grenz of the Carlstadt Liccane battalion in open order. In my collection, this battalion can be deployed upon the field of battle either in close order (23 figures per stand) or, now, in open order of three stands. Figures are from Eureka's 18mm SYW range. A second unit of skirmishing grenz is on the painting table. The unit in work will be fielded as the blue uniformed Carsltadt Szuiner battalion. The Austrians are a colorful lot!
Beautifully painted uniforms on some fine sculpts. Now that I've had my first taste of 15mm - I am even more impressed with your brushwork on these. Amazing work on the lacing and cuffs! Best, Dean
They are lovely. I always admire what level of detail you can get with your 18mms. The red is well done and nicely balanced w contrasts like the white rifle slings.
Nicely done, great paintjob!

ReplyDeleteDean, thank you for the kind comments! Your 15mm Samurai are much more elegantly done up than these.
DeleteMore nice work!

Thanks, Christopher!
DeleteColorful and lovely lot! They do look the part of fellows about to go into the woods and shoot up the regulars.
ReplyDeleteColorful, for sure. Not many landscapes into which these red clad light troops will blend. At least, they won't show blood stains...
DeleteGreat looking troops. The 7YW Grenzer are much more colorful than the later ones, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteYes, the SYW grenz are a colorful lot. The later grenz did manage to retain their red cloak and Hungarian breeches, though.
