28mm Reconquista - More BTD Spearmen

July turned out to be a month primarily dedicated to the new Reconquista project in 28mm.  Actually, 28mm was the only scale (alright, I know 28mm is a size not a scale) reaching the painting table in July.  From a project beginning, standing start, 65 figures were completed; enough to field seven Impetvs units.  The only other unit to make it across the painting desk in July was one, ten figure stand of 28mm Punic War Spanish.  As August begins, I find myself at work on eleven 28mm Andalus cavalry for three Impetvs stands.

My small, initial order from Gripping Beast arrived on Wednesday in record time; eight days from order placement to arrival from U.K. to Washington state.  Impressive!  The figures are really nice too and will fit in perfectly with the BTD figures.  Firemonkeyboy was spot on when he commented that the two ranges would work well together.

The final dozen painted figures for July were pressed into service as the third Andalus spear stand.  These figures are all BTD.

  1. Jeez, Jon, this is shaping up to be one of your best looking armies yet, right up there with ECW.

Are you finding the dip easier to control now? I may have to give it another try.

    1. Thanks, Scott! For certain periods and color schemes, the dip works very well. For 28s, I think I'll use it every time regardless of period.

  2. I second Scott...you are on fire! Love'em and at this rate, you must be nearly tabletop ready.

Also, when I hear or see any variation on the word Andulusia, I can't help but think of one of the Clash Spanish Bombs. It's the only song I know that works that word in. Er, sorry about the derail!

    1. Hi Monty, still have a bit of work to do get the project table-ready but getting close. I need to tally what I need to get a table-ready force.

I hope your usage of "Clash","Spanish","Bombs", and "derail" don't trigger alarms at NSA HQ!
