Prussians on the March

Having laid in a sizable supply of primed and Ready-to-Paint figures in preparation for hunkering down in winter quarters, I pick up the brushes and get back to work.  The completion of undercoating activities appears to cross the finish line only days ahead of a wintertime atmospheric river of moisture headed into the Pacific Northwest.  Did I lay in enough supplies to make it through winter?  Perhaps not but there are always opportunities to step outside to lay a coat of spray primer down on a handful of figures if the stockpile runs low or my interests change.
Anyway, marching out from the workbench today are 48 figures comprising the 96th Infantry Regiment.  These 48 figures are spread across three, 16-figure battalions.  Today's release brings the fledgling FPW Prussian army up to six infantry regiments.  This is probably enough to begin thinking about bringing this small force to the table.  Figures are 15mm Lancashire Games.
With the game table seeing Reconquista armies battling it out at Zallaqah (I still have one BatRep from a week ago to write), it may be little surprise that more figures for this period have been pressed into the painting queue.  More Christian horse and foot are working their way through the production line.  Hopefully, some of these units will find their way to the photo box and eventually here.

Later this morning sees a return to the long running AWI series of games with Matt.  It has been a very long time since we last visited this series of games as we fight our way through the AWI.  Today's offering looks at the Battle of the Clouds in a follow-up from the Battle of Brandywine.
Should be fun.

  1. Nice work Jon, those Lancashire Games figures really are very nice. I have never heard of the Battle of the Clouds but the table set up looks interesting.

    1. Thanks! As I have mentioned many times before, I really like the Lancashire infantry for these mid-19th Century wars. I had not heard of this AWI action either. Evidently, it was only a skirmish. When I first saw the title, I figured Matt might be presenting the ACW Battle of Lookout Mountain.

  2. I should be cleaning up and priming figures myself, but have found the mojo lacking.
Nice to see you're keeping busy!

  3. It does seem like a long time since your last AWI game with Matt. Put me down as another who has never heard of the Battle of the Clouds.

Another fine group of Prussians. I was thinking that you must have enough to deploy a force by now. Enough for a good game.

    1. I just looked back into the archives. Our last game was way back in May. Matt has been traveling a lot and battling illness from time to time. Good to be back at the table with him.

Yes, enough Prussians for a small game now.

  4. "only six regiments" you are too modest. 300 figures at this rate. Well done, also.

  5. Fantastic result Jonathan and 48 figures is nothing to sneeze at.
Six regiments will give the French something to worry about.

    1. Thanks a lot, Ben! Six regiments are enough for a division and a half.

  6. More lovely Prussians from Lancashire Games, very impressive they look too! Look forward to seeing Matt and your battle, interesting one to game, not well known but has a lot of potential to be a good game, always good to see some Hessians on an AWI table too!

    1. Much appreciated, Donnie! This tabletop battle was much more interesting than the historical action. Matt designed another fine scenario with Hessians too!

  7. Quite a range in this post, Medievals to the American Rev to the FPW--just goes to show that the "lore" of historical gaming provides almost endless avenues.

    1. Warfare provides an almost endless list of interesting conflicts. I seem to game many of them!

  8. Nice work on those 3 battalions Jon:). I've got some stuff to prime too, but haven't been able to step outside during a brief window of opportunity yet. I might wait until an order arrives so I can do a big batch in one hit, which is much more economical on the spraying front.

  9. I'm not sure I'd describe eighteen battalions of 16 figures as modest! I think that is about as many Prussians as I have in 6mm. They look very grand and will no doubt give the French a run for their money.

    1. Thanks, Martin! When I am in command of them, I hope they do more than simply give the French a run for the money.

  10. Lovely looking Prussians, Jonathan. They'll look suitably menacing on the table.
