Out from the painting workbench today are 28 Babylonian spearmen distributed across two, fourteen figure stands. Figures are Wargames Foundry. These fellas muster out to augment my growing army of Babylonians. More bowmen are working their way through the painting queue but have yet to see a lick of paint.
What are ahead of the bowmen in queue? Well, while Biblicals continue to feature prominently, I see 18mm Hanoverian cavalry, 18mm FRW infantry, and 25mm Crimean War Russian infantry. All are awaiting their turn in the photo booth.
The Battle of Fornovo continues to feature on the gaming table with a one-on-one F2F game on Saturday and a four-player remote game on Monday. Saturday's battle saw the French absolutely stomp the Italians while readers must wait for the battle report to see the outcome of Monday's game. For now, I will only say that the game was great fun.

25mm Crimean. Don't think I've seen you feature a battle from that war before. Interesting to see.
ReplyDeleteWell, the Russians will not be utilized in the Crimean War. That explains why they have not been featured! The Russians are used in a Great Game project against Afghans, Indians, assorted Natives, and British.

DeleteThe Babylonians look stunning and like others, I find the mention of Crimean Russians intriguing.... have you played games of The Great Game, or is it still just a nascent idea?
ReplyDeleteKeith, you are most kind! My Russians have seen action against the British one time only and that was many years ago. When time permits, I ought to schedule Russians vs Natives in a small game. I wonder if I could drum up any takers for something like this?

ReplyDeleteThank you, David! Monday's game saw a much different Italian strategy. If you have been talking to Chris, he probably told his side of the dice throwing woes. There were times we were all laughing so hard and his enemy was actually rooting for him to succeed.

No chariots today but plenty of colorful shields. With three Fornovo battles, thus far, all have been very enjoyable. A fourth Fornovo battle is on deck next week.

Richard, my Babylonians began as a supplement to an Assyrian Army. Now I have enough such that the Babylonians can field their own army.
