Cavalry Refit: KGL Heavy Dragoons

Time for the KGL cavalry contingents in the project to receive their new recruits and refitting.  After bringing in one new trooper each, the 1st and 2nd KGL Heavy Dragoons are ready for service.  Figures are Front Rank.
This refitting and reorganization exercise is turning out to be a relatively painless activity.  Painting one additional trooper per unit and rebasing takes time but not a task to be dreaded at all.  With the addition of one new trooper and a new basing scheme, I feel like an entirely new unit has been built.  I prefer the look of nine figure cavalry BMUs over eight figure BMUs.  I am pleased I forged ahead with this task.

  1. A refit is a pleasant way to cycle units into the army, though I was looking into your pictures and couldn’t work out who the new recruit is and so this has been a good exercise in the skill of colour management and style control. I do like the Front Rank figures, one of the blogs that I read through this morning had WSS cavalry with close up photography (always a brave thing to do!) and they looked to have splendid character.

    1. I like Front Rank figures a lot. One of my favorites for 28mm Napoleonics. Color management is mainly just luck. I guess I tend to use the same colors repeatedly.

  4. Great looking KGL heavies, Jonathan. I like how the bed rolls give them a splash of blue.

    1. The color match, as I said before, can be attributed to sticking to the same colors. The stain may help in bringing it all into unison too. Thank you!

  11. Another seamless integration. Yes, I definitely prefer three per base for regular cavalry and two for irregular.
