Assyrian Archers I

Returning to lighter matters, activity at the painting desk once again picks up.
Today, a nine figure unit of Assyrian heavy archers debouches from the confines of the painting desk.  These nine figures comprise a 'T' missile stand in Impetvs.
Figures are Wargames Foundry from the excellent Bronze Age range.  I may sound like a broken record but these figures and the whole range of Assyrians are excellent in every way.
A second, similar stand will be moving from the workbench soon.

  1. Very nice! All of the Foundry Bronze Age figures that I have seen are marvelous - I have a small handful of their Sumerians 'in reserve' while I try to sort out rules/basing.

    1. Thank you, Greg! Sumerians? I did not know Foundry made Sumerians?

  2. I'll happily agree that the Foundry Assyrians are very nice. I can remember them being released, as I was playing in a PBM campaign game called Assyria's End. Foundry's Assyrians, Anc. Egyptians and EIR have always caught my eye.

    1. Roy, they are wonderful lines of figures, no doubt. Becoming one of my favorites. Wait! I saw that about most figures.

    1. Thanks, Matt! Everyone seems to be in agreement that this is a fine line of figures. With that, we should see lots in tabletop games.

  5. Great work on these fine figs, Jonathan. I used to marvel at the images them on the Foundry website, as well as in adds in gaming magazines.

  10. Another very fine Assyrian unit, Jon. I see you have them painted as wearing leather armor. I like the brass/bronze details on some of the helmets!

    1. Thank you, Peter. Many of the heavy infantry I put wearing metalled plates but most of these heavy archers I left wearing leather linothorax. I think a few may be wearing metalled plated. If not in this unit, perhaps the next?
