Black Bande Arquebusier in 25mm

Following not too far behind the very large Landsknecht Black Bande pike block for the 28mm Great Italian Wars project (see Black Bande), a nine figure stand of arquebusier departs the painting desk.
Unlike the pikemen in the Black Bande pike block, the Impetvs 'T' stand of arquebusier are from Wargames Foundry.  As always, the Foundry figures are well sculpted and look quite serviceable when painted.
What is up next for the project?  Well, hopefully, a game!  While Jake's collection has seen action on the gaming table, mine is yet to witness its initial taste of battle.  Getting both collections into battle would be an impressive sight and likely consume a good portion of my 12' x 6' foot table.

On the painting front, a 'T' unit of Italian crossbowmen are presently in the painting queue but they are a long way down in priority.  A trio of Perry Stradiots looks like an interesting candidate to work into the queue as well.

  7. Seeing your progress in this most daunting (but rewarding)era is not only nice eye candy, but it is good motivation to get painting again myself. Wonderful effect on the faces, by the way--the personality really comes through!

    1. Thanks, Mark! The base is 120mm x 60mm; a standard Impetvs infantry base.

  10. Lovely looking figures Jonathan! Currently my table is 5ft x 8ft, but like yours I'm looking to go 6ft x 10-12ft for larger games.

  12. Another fine unit. I like the black band as it is a sharp looking unit that is also significantly easier to paint than a standard mercenary pike block.

    1. Thanks! You are correct that the way I painted the Black Bande makes for an easier task of fielding Landsknecht. Now, that I have the BB, back to more complex painting schemes.
