Coldstream Guard in 28mm

Off the workbench this evening is destined to be one of my favorite British regiments, the Coldstream Guard.  What makes this regiment special is that these are the first of the Front Rank Reinforcement Sets British I have tackled.  Each set comes with 36 figures including command.  Unpainted they looked brilliant when I first opened the package.  The new figures are less rotund and chunky than earlier figures we have grown to love and expect from Front Rank.

These Brits take the paint very easily and turn out quite nicely.  Just look at the fine detailing in the face, shako, webbing, and wings. 

Brilliant!  Fielding 18-figure British regiments, you might think that a 36 figure Reinforcement Set would allow for the completion of two regiments.  Well, that was not to be.  A follow-on order for the smaller, 6-figure Reinforcement Packs needed to fill out the ranks for a second regiment is in the works.  Also needed are a few odds and ends that I found lacking as I dug my through The Lead Pile on my 28mm Napoleonic binge.

Really outstanding sculpting on these British.  Ordered at the same time was a Reinforcement Set of French in bicorne.  The French are equally outstanding but not yet in the painting queue.
