One more WotR fighting unit musters out from the painting table. These 47 figures make up Beaumont's Battle. Figures are 28mm Perry Miniatures' plastics. This body of infantry represents the eleventh such Battle to march out from the painting desk. No banners yet but with luck, Pete's Flags will produce a set someday.
Of course, eleven such Battles is more than enough for a standard game, but I have the figures and now I have many options. There is a body of pikemen at the painting desk but those fellows keeping getting pushed back in the queue as WSS French regiments keep cutting in line. Four such French units are finished with a fifth in work. Oh, a second order to Ebor is off for reinforcements.
On the gaming front, Vol joined me in a Saturday game to refight our earlier Battle of Salem Church. Having tasted a narrow Federal defeat in our first game, Vol wanted to try again to see if the result was different. Sounds similar to the definition of insanity. Anyway, Vol has a BatRep up on his blog. The outcome can be seen at 2nd Battle of Salem Church.

A grand addition to the WotR collection, always good to have options. I will mosey on over to Vol’s blog to see how you faired this time around.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Phil! Yes, mosey over to Vol's blog and check out the action.
DeleteGrand looking figures for WotR.
ReplyDeleteMuch appreciated!
DeleteWith your amazing numbers, you will be able to do 'anything' with your WotR forces and do it in some magnificence and style.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Norm! Perhaps anything but win a game!
DeleteGreat work Jon, your WotR collection is very impressive, super additions. I too will check out Vol's blog to see how the ACW game went.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Donnie! Yes, check out Vol’s battle account.
DeleteI understand you perfectly, Jonathan! I’m in a similar situation. I’ve bought several Perry plastic kits, and they’re waiting to be painted. But those cunning Makhnovists for RCW keep getting ahead!😃 I want to create universal units that could take part in the early Italian Wars, the Burgundian Wars, the Wars of the Roses, the Swabian War, and other conflicts of the 15th century. Your work is amazing! I really like your base design style!
ReplyDeleteDistractions, distractions, distractions! You are a better planner than I. I have separate collections for Italian Wars and WotR. Glad you approve of my basing.
DeleteJonathan I'm surprised you have any hairs left on your brushes, the rate at which you paint!
ReplyDeleteI think people have suggested / twisted his arm to ask Pete for specific flags......
Neil
Brushes are plentiful! I have twisted Pete’s arm for Beaumont banners and even supplied examples.
DeleteWow Jon, you knocked this 47 figure battle out after our game? That many figures would take me a week!
ReplyDeleteI should have asked to use your photos for the BatRep, they are so much better than my phone pics.
Very funny! No, these figures were painted in September. Just now getting them to the Photo Booth. You can add these game photos now if you want.
DeleteGreat additions to your WOTR collection
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteLovely looking WotR unit Jon and I have already read Vols account of your reprise of the ACW scenario - he is expecting you to provide an AAR too!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am two BatReps behind now! I may never catch up especially with a game on Tuesday.
DeleteAnother fine battle Jonathan. I must admit that every time I have read these headings my first thought is that it is an AAR on an obscure battle I have never heard of. Lovely work. I enjoyed reading Vol's account of the latest game. It really comes across as a fun and close scenario.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lawrence! Yeah, "Battle" can be an ambiguous term. What should I change it too? The latest clash with Vol was both fun and exciting AND he bought lunch again!
Delete'Large group of medieval foot'? Actually, it doesn't have the same ring to it.
DeleteNo, it doesn’t.
DeleteGreat looking unit Jonathan 👌
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteGreat looking battle Jonathan, both of them 😁
ReplyDeleteVery close at Salem's church and Vol's report is excellent.
Double thanks!
DeleteWow, the shiny new toys make a great addition to your collection. The vignettes on your bases are truly fun to see. I will go catch up on the latest Salem Church game.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joe! Since it may be some time before I get around to my BatRep, do visit Vol’s account.
DeleteJonathan! Cracking turnout on the painting table—looks like another proper grand addition to your collection!
ReplyDeleteAll the best, Andy
Thanks much, Andy!
DeleteGreat work on another WOTR battle Jon. I’m still pondering a WOTR project. I just have enough projects at the moment 👍
ReplyDeleteThanks! You are not alone in having “just enough” projects at the moment. Still, this did not stop me from diving into another new project.
DeleteYou are prolific, Jonathan! An inspiration to us all. Cheers, Aaron
ReplyDeleteThank you, Aaron!
DeleteAnother great unit there Jon and it's always good to have enough options for other units to allow for variety in both play and scenario design:).
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steve! There may be times when doubling the size of a Battle would be interesting.
DeleteSplendid looking battle! Some would say eleven is excessive, not me, got to go, Ive got another Salem church write up to read!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain! Good to hear from the voice of reason.
DeleteLovely painting Jonathan with a colourful mix of tunics and stockings amongst the mail and armour.
ReplyDeleteI'll check out Vol's blog for the latest game of Salem Church.
Best wishes, James
Much appreciated, James!
DeleteVery nice work on the WoTR stuff there Jon. A handsome bunch indeed.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mark!
DeleteAnother lovely Battle. Are we due a parade of your WOTR forces yet?
ReplyDeleteThank you! I made a parade back in August although the latest two additions are not in this line up here.

Superb work sir, and the Salem Church engagement is fantastic. Your basing methodology still is the best I've seen.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Darren! Which basing? WotR or ACW?
DeleteVery nice unit of foot. You managed to make every bowman looking somehow special.
ReplyDeleteThank you, André!
