Beaumont's Battle and an ACW Preview

One more WotR fighting unit musters out from the painting table.  These 47 figures make up Beaumont's Battle.  Figures are 28mm Perry Miniatures' plastics.  This body of infantry represents the eleventh such Battle to march out from the painting desk.  No banners yet but with luck, Pete's Flags will produce a set someday.
Of course, eleven such Battles is more than enough for a standard game, but I have the figures and now I have many options.  There is a body of pikemen at the painting desk but those fellows keeping getting pushed back in the queue as WSS French regiments keep cutting in line.  Four such French units are finished with a fifth in work.  Oh, a second order to Ebor is off for reinforcements.
On the gaming front, Vol joined me in a Saturday game to refight our earlier Battle of Salem Church.  Having tasted a narrow Federal defeat in our first game, Vol wanted to try again to see if the result was different.  Sounds similar to the definition of insanity.  Anyway, Vol has a BatRep up on his blog.  The outcome can be seen at 2nd Battle of Salem Church.

One more Salem Church iteration with Peter this week and then time to pack it all away and ponder what next.

  3. With your amazing numbers, you will be able to do 'anything' with your WotR forces and do it in some magnificence and style.

  5. I understand you perfectly, Jonathan! I’m in a similar situation. I’ve bought several Perry plastic kits, and they’re waiting to be painted. But those cunning Makhnovists for RCW keep getting ahead!😃 I want to create universal units that could take part in the early Italian Wars, the Burgundian Wars, the Wars of the Roses, the Swabian War, and other conflicts of the 15th century. Your work is amazing! I really like your base design style!

    1. Distractions, distractions, distractions! You are a better planner than I. I have separate collections for Italian Wars and WotR. Glad you approve of my basing.

  6. Jonathan I'm surprised you have any hairs left on your brushes, the rate at which you paint!
I think people have suggested / twisted his arm to ask Pete for specific flags......

  7. Wow Jon, you knocked this 47 figure battle out after our game? That many figures would take me a week!
I should have asked to use your photos for the BatRep, they are so much better than my phone pics.

  9. Lovely looking WotR unit Jon and I have already read Vols account of your reprise of the ACW scenario - he is expecting you to provide an AAR too!

  10. Another fine battle Jonathan. I must admit that every time I have read these headings my first thought is that it is an AAR on an obscure battle I have never heard of. Lovely work. I enjoyed reading Vol's account of the latest game. It really comes across as a fun and close scenario.

    1. Thanks, Lawrence! Yeah, "Battle" can be an ambiguous term. What should I change it too? The latest clash with Vol was both fun and exciting AND he bought lunch again!

    2. 'Large group of medieval foot'? Actually, it doesn't have the same ring to it.

  16. Another great unit there Jon and it's always good to have enough options for other units to allow for variety in both play and scenario design:).
