1859 French Infantry Marching to the Front

Is this Deja Vu?  Am I recycling troops to make my production numbers look larger than they are?  No.  This is the second such French regiment marching off the painting desk within the last 30 days.  This regiment is also the second French regiment composed of the excellent Lancashire Games' figures seen in succession.
These 36 figures in three battalions add to the ever-growing complement of French infantry for the 1859 project.  By my count, this is the fifteenth regiment of French infantry mustered for the project.  With three battalions per regiment, that totals 45 battalions.  Not included in these counts are the single battalion chasseurs.  The French are becoming a force to be reckoned with.
I really enjoy painting these figures.  Good thing.  A large pile of these Lancashire Games' French infantry await in The Lead Pile.  Seems I add one Battle Pack of 60 figures plus command to my shopping cart every time a sale is offered.  I really ought to quit that habit.  One day, I may make it through the entire backlog.  Not anytime soon but one more regiment is in the painting queue.

    1. Thanks! That is a good idea to hold a parade to show the current state of the French Army for this project. Noted!

    1. Thanks, Scott! No French present at San Martino but, perhaps, they will make an appearance in another battle?

    1. Thank you, Jake! Well, the Sardinians and Austrians are on the table RIGHT NOW! Maybe when you will find time in July to command troops at San Martino? That would be fun.

  8. I’m thankful that few of the miniature lines I buy have sales, or I’d be like you and constantly adding to the lead pile. Except that you actually seem to paint the things! 😀
Nice looking unit. Parade ground ready. Nice job.

    1. Stew, I buy, I paint. Unfortunately, I still have more incoming than outgoing. My Lead Pile never seems to shrink appreciably.

      Thanks for the comment!

    1. Thanks, Lawrence! When you steadily chip away at The Lead Pile, one day you produce an army. The size tends to sneak up on me.

  10. Lovely units. Apart from the Italian campaign, might I suggest a Mexican action in support of Emperor Maximilian?

    1. Thanks! These fellows could see service in the New World, for sure. I would need opposition for them. That would be a whole new project.

  12. A most handsome regiment.
45 battalions of French Line for this era? Nom de Dieu!
Do you have other French troops for this era in proportion to that?!
Lancashire Games figures are an excellent value to start with, and when you throw in the Battalion Pack discount plus a sale discount, they are more or less in Old Glory Army Card territory (aside from the shipping to the US, of course).

    1. Thanks! I do have other French formations including Zoauves, Guard, Chasseurs but could use some effort put into rebalancing the army after the extended work on French line.

Lancashire Games figures are a good value even not on sale. On sale and with battle pack discounts, they are a real value even with shipping to the States.

  13. Great stuff Jonathan. With 100 line infantry regiments (plus the guard and the African troops) in service at the time you have a few more to go. I love your new copyright notice!

    1. Thanks, Mark. Fortunately, I do not need to paint 100 French regiments. I think that would be undoable. As for the copyright notice, I reluctantly made it more prominent and direct after my complaints resulted in having my account locked without warning or discussion.
