Egyptian Slingers

Painting activity in November and December seems to have focused on the Assyrian Wars project in 25mm. Today's output backs up that notion.
Off the painting desk today are two stands of Egyptian slingers based as skirmishers per Impetvs guidelines.  Figures are BTD from their excellent Egyptian range.  With their simple attire, an Egyptian Army can be brought into service very quickly.  Surprisingly quickly, really.  Although my plan was to field only a few Egyptian units, my tendency to over-buy during BTD sales led to a small pile of Egyptians.  Looking at the mix of Egyptians purchased, it is clear that there was not much method or foresight into my acquisitions.
A late fall surge in Biblicals crossing the painting desk has produced ten units for the gaming table.  Half of these stands are Egyptians.  Two more stands of Egyptians are in the pipeline including one more chariot.  Certainly not enough units to field an Egyptian Army on my own but enough to augment Jake's Egyptians.  With a grid in place and To the Strongest! in hand, perhaps, the Assyrians Wars collection will see action in the not too distant future?

  1. It would be good to see an early TtS game. Photo one has a look of sense of purpose and determination.

    1. The slinger in the lead photo does look determined, doesn't he?

As for Tts! options, I have many choices since my Impetvs-based collections will work with TtS! grids.

  3. Seems somehow appropriate for the time of the year to see something Biblical (even if it's more Moses than Three Wise Men)--and nicely rendered.

    1. Some Biblical seems a fitting way to wind up the year. Expect another unit or two forthcoming.

THanks for your continued support, Ed!

    1. Yes, if you can bring them up, we can get them on the table against the Assyrians.

  7. also, nice looking group. I don't think I have actually done any of BTD's slinger models. I have nothing but Javelins and archers. They are nice looking sculpts. The slings look fairly robust which should prevent breakage.

    1. Thank you! The BTD Egyptian line of figures is really first rate. The figures I have painted have been easy to paint and the sculpting superb. The javelinmen that I have been placing as runners on the chariot stand are terrific too.

  13. They look great! I can attest to the speed with which Egyptians can be turned out in particular, and the quality of the BTD figures. I may need to add a few more...
Once you set up the army rosters, TtS! is very quick to put on the table. A biblical action would seem especially fitting at this time of year.

    1. Thanks, Peter! I know very well your experience with fielding Egyptians. It is a fun army to field. My contribution to an Egyptian force I try to keep limited.

BTD is having a holiday sale now so back up the truck and fill 'er up!
