SYW Russian Musketeer Battalion from Lancashire Games

The sampling of various SYW Russian infantry continues.  Today a 23 figure battalion of Russian infantry in green coat marches off from the painting desk.
Foot figures are from Lancashire Games while the mounted colonel is a Russian mounted officer from Eureka Miniatures.  The Lancashire Games' musketeers march out in a single pose.  Unlike the recently completed Old Glory Russian musketeers, Lancashire Games offers no pose variation.  All figures are in lock step with no differentiation.  For the marching precision and discipline of the SYW, a single pose works.
Though more stiff than the Old Glory Russians, a battalion of these Russians looks perfectly at ease alongside a battalion of Old Glory Russians.  One reader in a comment on the Old Glory Russians suggested a figure comparison might be in order.  With figures from five different manufacturers in the SYW project thus far, I think that is a good idea.

  1. Lovely unit,it actually seems to help that they're all in the same pose in this period when precision is what was aimed for. The mounted officer breaks up the unit nicely.

    1. Thanks, Christopher! My foray into SYW Russians is limited to only a handful of battalions.

    1. Dean, my Russians are only a small pittance. Jake (Dartfrog) has the large Russian army to face my Prussians at Zorndorf.

  6. Nice looking formation. The figures look quite simple to paint compared to the nooks and crannies of the Blue Moon Sculpts. Your mounted officer looks suitably Russian as well with the gruff demeanor and a mustache that would make Stalin proud.

    1. Thanks! This is a much different sculpting style than Blue Moon. The figures, themselves, remind me very much of Minifigs. I like the Russian colonel too. He has a big mustache and lots of hat lace.

    1. Thanks for your kind comments! The tentative schedule is to have Zorndorf on the gaming table near the 260th anniversary in August. Jake (Dartfrog) is busily painting his Russian army to face off against my Prussians.

  9. They look great! Sometimes it’s easier to paint miniatures quickly when they are all the same pose. Just go down the assembly line. 😀

    1. Much appreciated! Same pose maybe a little faster to paint but I tend to reach boredom more quickly with the same pose too.

      I think it awash!

  10. For Russia, with love! :-)
I like the uniform poses for this era. Zorndorf is looking to be some superb eye candy with all of the fine lads being readied for the game

I am looking forward to seeing all of Jake's Russians deployed upon the battlefield.
